McIlroy jumps 572 places in rankings
By Brian Keogh
Rory McIlroy jumped 572 places to 308th in the world rankings - the same day that pal Darren Clarke crashed out of the world's top 200.
As Clake missed the cut and fell to 204th in the world, McIlroy's third place finish at St Andrews was worth a massive 19.20 world ranking points
That's more than Clarke has earned in the last year and if the Holywood ace has another top 10 finish this season he will soon be ranked ahead of his idol Clarke.
McIlroy wasn't the only big mover of the week as England's Nick Dougherty leapt into the world' top 50 thanks to his Alfred Dunhill Links triumph.
The Liverpudlian moved up 53 places to 47th while runner up Justin Rose leapt two places to 11th.
