No Irish Open invite for Moriarty
By Brian Keogh
In-form Colm Moriarty has failed to land a precious Irish Open invitation.
The Glasson professional will be playing for €15,000 at Faithlegg instead of €2.5 million at Adare Manor.
Scot David Drysdale got the last sponsor's invitation, leaving Moriarty to tee it up in the third tier PGA Europro Tour event in Waterford.
His manager Conor Ridge groaned: "I am gutted. We worked hard to get Colm an invitation based on the fact that he finished in the top 20 in the Irish Open for the last two years.
"Unfortunately, the Tour has decided to give the invite back to the field."
Moriarty won the first Europro Tour event of the season two weeks ago and followed up with a a share of 27th in the Challenge Tour event in Toulouse at the weekend.
