Maguire falls in British Girls

By Brian Keogh

Talented twin Lisa Maguire fell in the semi-finals of the Girls' British Open Amateur Championship at Southerndown in Wales.

The Slieve Russell sensation, who is only 12 years old, was beaten 5&4 by England's Kelly Tidy.

It was a magnificent performance by the Cavan girl, who was the first Irish player to reach the semi-finals of the British Girls since Josephine Mark in 1972

Tidy lost to Yeovil ace Henrietta Brockway, 17, by 4&3 in the final.
