West of Ireland delayed by high winds
Gale force winds have forced organisers to delay the start of the West of Ireland Championship at Rosses Point.
The first threeball was due to tee off at County Sligo GC at 7.15 am but following a course inspection by the Championship Committee that has now been put back until 9am following a further inspection.
Strong NNW winds of more than 31 mph (50 kph) caused balls to move more than two or three feet on the more exposed greens.
A field of 120 is set to play two strokeplay qualifying rounds with the top 64 taking their places in the first matchplay round on Sunday.
The final is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
