It took five playoff holes and a 75 minute weather delay, but a seven foot birdie putt on the 18th sealed the win for David Skinns who outlasted Hernan ‘Piri” Borja at The First Tee Inverrary Classic in Lauderhill, Florida on Sunday.
 
Skinns survived a close call on the fourth playoff hole (the 17th) when Borja pushed a four footer for birdie that would have won the tournament .
 
“That kid made everything today,” said Skinns. “We got new life when we thought for sure we were dead.”
 
“I should’ve made that putt. No doubt about it,” said the 22 year old from Coral Springs who was playing on a sponsor’s invite. “I felt like Tiger Woods today. I made that putt more times today than I can count. I just pushed it and it cost me.”
 
Borja closed with a five-under 67 to finish 16 under for the event. Skinns (Lincoln, England), the leader after rounds 2 and 3 fired a final round 2 under 70.
 
“It’s the biggest win of my career. No doubt,” said Skinns who takes home $33,565 for his effort.
 
Sligo's Sean McTernan claimed a share 37th spot and $1,377 after a two-under par 70 left him on even par.

Chris Devlin was tied 64th on eight over after a 74 and earned $900.
