Curtis Cup star Breanne Loucks (Wales) fired a final round 73 to beat Scotland’s Roseanne Niven by three strokes at the Irish Women’s Open Strokeplay at Elm Park Golf Club, 28 June 2008.
 
In blustery but dry conditions, Loucks registered two birdies early on and got to three under par before the turn. She encountered tree trouble on the inward nine but steadied the ship to finish just one over par and claim her first Irish Open title.

Scotland’s Roseanne Niven birdied 16 and 18 to post a two under par 70 to finish one ahead of Lisa Magure (Slieve Russell) and Charlotte Wild who posted a best of the day 69.
 
Lisa’s twin sister Leona was four shots further back alongside Tara Delaney (Carlow) and Audrey Goumard (France). Aedin Murphy (Carlow) celebrated a magnificent weekend’s work to finish in eighth place, earning her an invitation to play in the AIB Ladies Irish Open at The Portmarnock Links in mid July.
In the International team event, Wales beat Ireland by one shot with England four shots further back, six ahead of Germany.
