Ireland's Rebecca Coakley and Martina Gillen finished brilliantly to share 11th place at the halfway stage of the European Nations Cup in Spain.

After opening with a disappointing 72 in the fourballs, Coakley and Gillen are tied for 11th with Wales but a distant nine strokes behind Beth Daniel and Meg Mallon of the United States.

The Americans combined for a five-under-par 67 to finish 11 under, two clear of France's Gwladys Nocera and Anne-Lise Caudal.
