US Walker Cup skipper George "Buddy" Marucci is hoping that American fans will get right behind his team at Merion (see course guide here) in Pennsylvania from September 12-13.

Merion is one of the top courses in the world."Whether it is home or away it is really nice for these young men to play in front of as many people as possible," he said at a media conference at the match venue. "The bigger crowds do add to the event and on that Sunday afternoon in Ireland somewhere between 11,000 and 13,000 people were around that last green. 

"That's the event of a lifetime and you don't forget those things. I think that opportunity is here and I am hopeful we are able to stir up enough interest that we will get a lot of people out here."
