The bets that got away

Martin Kaymer was 125/1 to win the 2010 Race to Dubai. In 2011 he’s 7/2 with Boylesports. Regular punters love to boast about the big bets they landed but how many of you made a killing on golf in 2010?

Boylesports today released a list of the best bets of 2010 and it is hard to believe that Martin Kaymer was 150/1 to win the Race to Dubai while you could get odds of 66/1 on Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell winning at Quail Hollow and Pebble Beach respectively.

Looking ahead to 2011, many will be tempted to have a flutter on the Masters at Augusta National in April. Tiger Woods is currently the 5/2 favourite ahead of defending champion Phil Mickelson (6/1) with Lee Westwood 12/1, McIlroy 16/1, Kaymer 22/1, Padraig Harrington 25/1 and McDowell 28/1.

The Open will be held at Royal St George’s (Sandwich) in Kent and again, Boylesports has installed Woods as the hot favourite (7/2) ahead of McIlroy and Westwood (12/1) with defending champion Louis Oosthuizen a tempting 66/1.

As for the 2011 Race to Dubai, Westwood is the favourite to top the money list at 10/3 ahead of Kaymer (7/2) and McIlroy (9/2) with McDowell (16/1) and Padraig Harrington (33/1) regarded as long shots.

Much is expected of McIlroy in 2011 and Boylesports is offering a list of specials on the Holywood hotshot. He’s 5/1 to win a major with McDowell 6/1 and Harrington 7/1.
