McDowell up to 36th in the world

Graeme McDowell moved up eight places to 36th in the world thanks to his fifth career victory in the Celtic Manor Wales Open.  

Rory McIlroy remained 10th in the rankings despite clinching a share of 10th place in the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village where England’s Justin Rose grabbed his maiden PGA Tour victory to move up 33 places to 33rd.  

The other big mover of the week was Welsh sensation Rhys Davies - runner up for the second week running - who jumped into the world’s top 50 by moving up ten places to 45th.  

Padraig Harrington, who returns to action following knee surgery when he joins McIlroy in this week’s St Jude Classic in Memphis, remained at 14th in the latest list.  

Irish Open champion Shane Lowry rose three spots to 100th in the world with Gareth Maybin still 122nd.  

Peter Lawrie climbed three places to 146th with Darren Clarke up one to 162nd and Damien McGrane up four to 220th.   Paul McGinley fell nine places to 312th.
