McIlroy to stick with troubled Lough Erne Resort

Rory McIlroy is in no hurry to replace troubled sponsor Lough Erne just yet.

The luxury Co Fermanagh golf resort went into administration this week with debts estimated at around €30 million.

But McIlroy’s manager Chubby Chandler doesn’t see any advertising space becoming available any time soon.

Chandler said: “Not at this moment. We’ll carry on as normal.”

The ISM boss does not want to risk legal action by the administrator after Henrik Stenson found himself in legal trouble two years ago when he removed the Stanford logo from his clothing .

The Swede lost part of his fortune in a scandal that saw Sir Allen Stanford’s business empire collapse and Vijay Singh and Camilo Villegas were also affected.

The joint administrators said it was their intention that Lough Erne will “continue trading”
