Tee with Tiger a pleasure for Padraig

Tiger Woods is always at the centre of attention. Picture: Phil Inglis / www.golffile.ie. Padraig Harrington he has no problem with being drawn with Tiger Woods in this week’s US PGA Championship in Atlanta.

The struggling Dubliner has been paired with the former world No 1 and veteran Davis Love for the first rounds of the season’s final major at Atlanta Athletic Club.

But far from believing it’s the last thing he needs as he battles to find some form, world No 69 Harrington is happy he’ll be at the centre of attention.

He said: “It is not the last thing I need but I don’t mind being the centre of attention that’s for sure.

“I don’t need external motivation. I don’t need anything extra pushing me and it’s not a hinderance either.

“It is nice to have a big gallery and it’s easier to play golf that way. I am quite comfortable. Usually when you are paired up with him you are in great form.”

Woods hasn’t won since 2009 but Harrington still believes he will be a factor on Sunday as the American chases his 15th major win.

He said: “I don’t know about intimidating but you would be a foolish person to rule him out next week in a major.

“Knowing his record in majors, he will give himself his chance coming down the stretch.”
