Estancias Golf ClubReeve Whitson bowed out but Richard O’Donovan came through on the 18th to reach the second round of the Argentinian Amateur Championship in Buenos Aires.

As Mourne player Whitson lost 2 and 1 to Sebastian Prado, O’Donovan beat Lisandro Eyherabide one up and will now take on New Zealand’s Joshua Munn for a place in the last 16 at Estancias Golf Club. Results

Leading qualifier Garrett Rank of Canada beat Federico Boquete 2 and 1 and will now take on Spain’s Eduardo Larrañaga Eizaguirre in the second round.
