IdentityX, Clune Construction and Blarney.com will help Padraig Harrington raise money for a worthy cause over the next three weeks.Dermot Desmond’s biometrics firm is one of three companies to seize the unique three-week branding opportunity offered by Padraig Harrington to raise funds for a family member who was paralysed in a car accident.

Harrington had the innovative idea of offering branding space on his headwear and clothing for his next three events - the Shell Houston Open, The Masters and the RBC Heritage - to companies willing to donate money to help Gerard Byrne, a cousin of his wife Caroline, who is now paralysed from the waist down.

IndentityX, which was founded by miulti-millionaire Desmond in 1999, was one of the first to make an offer while Clune Construction and Blarney.com have also come on board for a unique fund-raising drive.

Harrington said, “I am very grateful to IdentityX, Clune Construction and Blarney.com who have pledged over $200,000 to this worthy cause and I hope I will repay their support with some good results over the next three weeks while wearing their branding. 

“I am also very grateful to my current sponsors for allowing me to do this. I know this assistance will help Gerard and his family who have shown such courage during this difficult time.”

Mr Byrne will need long term financial assistance to adapt to his disability and take care of his wife and three young children.
 
Blarney.com will contribute an additional donation of 5% of net website sales (excluding clothing related items) during the three week period to the Padraig Harrington Charitable Foundation.
