Castle "caddies" raise €3,000 for Philippines

Staff at Castle Golf Club became caddies for a day to support the international aid response for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan

Castle Golf Club supported the international aid response for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan with a special charity day and raised over €3,000.

Staff members including club professionals David Kinsella and Colin Clancy donned white Masters style overalls for the occasion.

The main event was a 12-hole team rumble with over 100 teams. Members entered a draw to win a 'caddy for the day' and staff washed members cars to raise funds.

"Our assistant Professional, Colin Clancy came up with the idea for the event, I think it shows our club at its best,” said club Captain, Michael Bollard.

“The atmosphere on the course and in the clubhouse was great and we are proud to do our little bit to help the people of the Philippines.”

“It was a fun day from start to finish. It was great to leave the desk and get out on the course in aid of such a good cause" said General Manager, John McCormack, who also became a caddy for the day.
