The 26 year old Kildare man has missed the cut in his first three starts on the satellite tour that stages events in Denmark, Norway and Finland as part of the Nordic League.

But he was delighted with his opening round after leaving a host of former tour starts trailing in his wake. Scores.

“I played well all day and hit my wedges close,” said Kelly, who chipped in and also holed his second shot for an eagle two at the 16th to lead by one from Denmark’s Jesper Happel.
