Malone Golf Club has presented a stern test for the 2013 Irish Seniors Open. Michael Quirke will take a three shot lead into Friday’s final round of the Irish Seniors Amateur Open after another day of swirling breezes and glorious sunshine at Malone Golf Club.

The overnight leader added a five over 76 to his superb opening 70 and head The Heath’s Tom Tyrell and Scotland’s Keith Bruce on four over 146.

Defending champion Adrian Morrow from Portmarnock hit back after an opening round of 80 with a second round of 73 go into the final rounds seven shots off the lead.
