Fred Daly win for Belvoir Park
Belvoir Park clinched the Fred Daly Trophy in a brilliant exhibition of golf, edging out a valiant Greystones side in a high-quality final, writes the GUI.
Greystones had earlier beaten Mallow in impressive style, while Belvoir Park had clinched their semi-final against Galway by virtue of three victories on the final green.
Gareth Lappin led from the front for Belvoir, winning his two matches in the number one position - in the morning against his international team-mate Ronan Mullarney and in the afternoon against Greystones’ talisman and Irish Close semi-finalist David Byrne.
Patrick Brennan was also on form, winning twice on the 18th in crucial games, but it was Dominic Lavery who clinched the title for Belvoir Park by winning on the 16th against Chris Boylan, Dominic Pollock having already beaten Sam Lewis by 5/4.
