The University of Stirling romped to victory in the Irish Colleges Invitational Tournament at County Louth Golf Club, taking an 18-shot victory in the team event thanks in no small part to a magnificent performance by Swiss player Mathias Eggenberger, writes the GUI.

Eggenberger, a member of the Swiss team at last month's Eisenhower Trophy in Japan, carded a final round 71 to add to his opening pair of 70s, comfortably taking the individual honours.

Maynooth University took the other two podium spots on 13 over - their B team edging the A team to second place thanks to a countback of the discarded third round card.

Queens University's Jessica Ross took the Ladies individual honours.

Waterford IT finished a creditable fourth, ahead of UCD (A), Ulster (B) and Stirling (B).
