Bridges falls in quarters in Argentina

Stackstown's Richard Bridges fell on the 18th to Argentina's Andreas Schonbaum in the quarter-finals of the Argentinian Amateur Open Championship in Buenos Aires on Saturday.

The Dubliner lost by one up to the man from Cordoba at Highland Park Golf and Country Club, bringing a successful season to an end.

A semi-finalist in the Irish Amateur Close at Seapoint, where he lost to on the 18th to eventual champion John-Ross Galbraith, Bridges went on to make his international debut in Ireland's Home Internationals victory in Wales.

Andrés Gallegos beat Jesus Montenegro in his quarter-final and went on to beat Schonbaum 2 up in the semi-finals. He will meet Canada's Austin Connelly in today's 36-hole final.

Draw

Connelly beat Uruguay's Juan Alavarez 6 and 4 in the quarters before seeing off compatriot Corey Conners 2 and 1 in the semi-finals.
