Meadow in LPGA Q-School play-off torture - returns at 7.30am to fight for last card
Jordanstown's Stephanie Meadow endured an agonising final day at the LPGA Q-School and still doesn't know if she will have a full or conditional LPGA Tour card after she ended up in a mass playoff for the last of 20 cards that was still undecided after six extra holes.
The Ulster star looked to be on her way to a full card when she opened with two birdies in tough, windy conditions at LPGA International's Jones Course at Daytona Beach.
But she bogeyed the next three hole, dropped another shot at the ninth and then followed a birdie at the 14th with bogeys at the 16th and 17th, carding a three over 75 to end the 90-holetest day in seven-way tie for 18th on four under par. Scores
With only the Top 20 winning cards, she was engulfed in a seven-way, three-hole aggregate playoff for just three cards involving Israel's Laetitia Beck, Korea's Julie Yang and Americans Karli Beck, Garrett Phillips, Casey Grice and Jacqui Concolino.
The Royal Portrush star missed a four-footer for birdie at the last hole of the aggregate playoff and ended up on even par with five players, setting up a six-way sudden death battle for just three cards after Concolino was eliminated.
Playing in groups of three, Meadow headed down the 10th with Karlin Beck and Laetitia Beck, who drained a 10 footer for birdie.
Karlin Beck and Meadow both had chances from inside that distance for birdie and missed and in the following group, Garrett Phillips birdied, which meant she and Israel's Laetitia Beck had earned their cards.
That left Yang, Karlin Beck, Meadow and Grice to battle it out for the final card and all four made pars at the 18th and went on to the 10th.
Yang bogeyed to drop out but while Meadow and Carlin Beck both made par, Grice missed a nine-footer for the final card.
It was too dark to continue and the play-off for the final card was suspended until 7.30 local time (12.30 pm in Ireland) on Monday.
American amateur Alison Lee and Australia's Minjee Lee topped the qualifiers on 10 under par with Tiger Woods' niece Cheyenne carding a 70 to finish tied for 11th and earn her card.
England's Charley Hull mad a brave bid to win her fill card but a 68 left her a shot outside the top 20.
She was still delighted with her performance and happy to earn conditional membership of the LPGA Tour for 2015.
