Carr Golf tees up Annual Pro-Am at Portrush, Portmarnock and Royal County Down

Carr Golf Travel has announced the programme for its 2nd Carr Golf Invitational Pro Am, which will be played over four rounds at three of the world’s greatest links courses.

After an optional practice round at Christy O’Connor’s home club, Royal Dublin, the first round of the event will be staged at Portmarnock Golf Club, recently rated No 1 in Ireland by Golf Digest Ireland.

The venue played host to the Walker Cup in 1991, numerous Irish Opens and the 1960 Canada Cup, when Arnold Palmer played his first round of links golf and won the trophy in partnership with Sam Snead. 

The following three rounds will be played Northern Ireland with one round at Royal Portrush Golf Club and two rounds at Royal County Down .  

Royal Portrush Golf Club is consistently rated one of the top 20 golf courses in the world and has hosted the British Open, the Irish Open, the Senior British Open and a number of British Amateur championships, including this year. Ireland's JB Carr won one of his three Amateur Championships at Royal Portrush in 1960.

Royal County Down Golf Club, which is currently rated No 4 in the world by Golf Digest, will host two of the tournament rounds. The famed course at Newcastle in Co Down hosted the Walker Cup in 2007 and a number of British Amateurs and the Senior British Open. .

Twenty invited teams of four( 4) will play in the Pro Am over four days from October 20—23, 2014.

The PGA professionals play for $10,000 in prize-money and the amateurs play for the Tipperary Crystal Trophy.

The group will stay two nights in Dublin at the Portmarnock Hotel & Golf Links and three nights in Belfast at the Europa Hotel. 

The tournament program includes five nights’ accommodation, five rounds of championship Links golf, luxury transport throughout the event, breakfast and lunch daily, $10,000 in prize-money, a tournament gift for the amateurs, a welcome reception at Portmarnock Golf Club, a gala dinner and a tournament concierge throughout.

The cost of entry is STG £2,000 per amateur, and this includes the PGA professional travelling complimentary. Carr Golf has partnered with NCPGA, PGA Met Section and the PGA Canada to promote the Pro Am.
