Castletroy's Chloe Ryan fired a four under 69 in the worst of the rain to go into the final round of the weather-delayed Irish Women's Open Strokeplay just one shot adrift of England's Lucy Goddard at Douglas.

Goddard fired a 71 to lead by one from Paula Grant after the first round but battled to a 74 in the afternoon to retain the lead before persistent rain forced place to be suspended.

Grant, who was denied by Meghan MacLaren at Castle last year, slipped five behind after a 78.

Eight competitors will complete their round at 8am on Sunday morning and the full field will take to the course with a two-tee start commencing at 9.30am.

All players will be included in the third round draw and there will be no 36 hole cut.
