West Waterford's Seamus Power birdied the 18th but a closing 75 was not what he had in mind as he ended up tied 54th in the Rex Hospital Open on the Web.com Tour.

The 27-year old topped the Monday qualifiers and played solidly for the first three days at TPC Wakefield Plantation in Raleigh, North Carolina. Scores

Tied for 16th on five under after rounds of 69, 68 and 71, he bogeyed the first and fourth to turn in 38 before further bogeys at the 10th, 15th and 17th sent him slithering down the leaderboard.

A three at the last repaired some of the damage but he still finished well down he leaderboard on one under, 15 shots adrift of American Byron Smith who closed with a 66 to win by four strokes from Scott Gardiner (69) and Harold Varner III (70).
