Power set for Beaverstown tilt; European 6-man team named

Kilkenny's Mark Power will be one of the favourites for next week's Leinster Boys Under 15 Amateur Open Championship at Beaverstown.

The 14-year old, son of three time Irish Close champion Eddie Power, put in a great performance in last weekend's Kilkenny Senior Scratch Cup. 

Playing off four, the winner of last year's Under 13 title in Leinster has been paired with Laytown and Bettystown's one-handicapper Liam Mulligan and United Arab Emirates based Darren Hall, who plays off two.

Meanwhile, the team selected by the Golfing Union of Ireland to compete in the European Amateur Team Championship at Vanajanlinna Golf Club, Finland from 8 – 12 July 2014 is:

  • Paul Dunne (Greystones)
  • Jack Hume (Naas)
  • Gary Hurley (West Waterford)
  • Dermot McElroy (Ballymena)
  • Gavin Moynihan (The Island)
  • Cormac Sharvin (Ardglass)
