Ireland's amateur teams have work to do in the European Amateur Team Championships.

The senior men's team is the best the bunch after the opening day's play at Linna Golf in Finland as they ended up seventh after the first qualifying round (Cormac Sharvin 69, Gavin Moynihan 71, Paul Dunne 71, Gary Hurley 71, Dermot McElroy 73, Jack Hume 76), eight shots behind leaders Spain.

In the European Ladies' Team Championship in Ljubljana , Slovenia, Ireland are just outside the top flight in ninth place with Olivia Mehaffey the best of the bunch after a one under 70.

Ireland are 13th in after the first round of the Boys' championship in Oslo and 16th in the Girls' event in Slovakia.
