Galbraith on the double
Whitehead's John-Ross Galbraith completed a famous double when he closed with rounds of 71 and 69 to take the Ulster Youths title at Balmoral.
The 20-year old became the first player to win both the Ulster Youths and the Irish Close titles in the same season, besting Ronan Rafferty who won the title at Belvoir Park in 1979 before going on to beat Rory McIlroy's swing coach Michael Bannon 8 and 7 in the Close final at Royal County Down.
Beaten in a three-way playoff for the Mullingar Electrical Scratch Trophy on Monday, Galbraith will now head to next week's Home Internationals for his Senior international debut in high spirits after finishing three clear of Castle's Alex Gleeson on one-over par.
