John Dwyer made it win number five this season in Friday's St Margarets Pro-Am.

The Ashbourne GC professional carded a three under par round of 70 but had to share top billing with Brian Kerley from GreenLife Golf Centre.

Kerley has played sporadically this season, and coming into this event his best finish was tied 10th at the PGA Southern Championship at Powerscourt.

He began his round at the 10th and went to the turn in one under 36 with bogeys at 16 and 18 offset by birdies at the 12th, 15th and 16th.

Another birdie at the first [his 10th] was immediately cancelled out by a bogey at the second but he responded with back-to-back birdies at the third and fourth before wrapping up his round with five straight pars.

In contrast to Kerley, Dwyer's last win of what has been a very productive season, was the Fred Daly Centennial Memorial Pro-Am in Balmoral GC on August 14th.

He also began his round at the 10th and made a sparkling start, collecting an eagle at the par five 12th. Unfortunately for John, he dropped two shots at the par three 15th but a birdie at the 16th saw him out in one under 36.

The 40-year-old dropped another shot at the first but he then reeled off four birdies in the next seven holes to get to four under for the tournament before a final dropped shot at the last.

Ciaran Molloy (Blackwood GC) and Michael McDermott (Pure Golf Leopardstown) finished tied for second on two under (71).

In the team event, David Ryan's (Cahir Park) 91 points proved too good for the field.
