Positives for O'Rourke despite 10 trouble
He might have racked up a 10 in the final round but Naas amateur Conor O'Rourke was left to reflect on the positives of making the cut in his first start in a pro event in Spain.
The Irish Development Panel golfer, a 62 shooter at Portmarnock Links just before Christmas, finished 24th in the Gecko Pro Tour event at Marbella Country Club on Thursday.
Rounds of 74 and 71 were enough to make the cut and while he shot 78 on the final day, running up a quintuple bogey 10 at the sixth, he can reflect on the positives of making 13 birdies in three rounds.
England's James Robinson shot rounds of 64, 65 and 68 to win by seven shots on 18 under par from compatriot James Watts with Spain's Gabriel Canizares third on nine under.
