Carton House amateur David Carey is just two shots outside the top 10 with a round to go in the opening event of the Alps Tour season in Egypt.

The 18-year old fired an eagle and three birdies in an excellent, two under 70 in the second round of the Red Sea El Ein Bay Open to go into the final round tied for 15th on one under par.

Thomas Elissalde of France (65-69) leads by one from England’s Steven Tiley on 10 under
