Noel Murray successfully defended the Black Bush Ladies Assistants Pro-Am carding a one over par 74 to edge out Carr Golf Services' Hazel Kavanagh and Headfort's Joe Dillon by a single shot.

The Massereene assistant, who shared the title with David Ruddy in 2014, was not be denied this time on a day when showers and blustery conditions made low scoring difficult.

Murray went to the turn in level par 37 with a bogey at the par four seventh, cancelled out by a birdie at the par five ninth.

He grabbed another birdie at the par five 10th to get to one under for day but dropped shots at the 12th and 16th saw him finish on one over par.

The team pro-am title was grabbed by Galgorm Castle's Ross Oliver with a score of 82 points.

Edenderry Golf Academy duo, Brian McCormack and Gerard Hall, finished joint second with 81 points.
