Waterford’s Eanna Griffin fired a one under 70 to make the cut with ease in the French Amateur Open Strokeplay — the Internationaux de France — at Chantilly.

The West of Ireland runner up had three birdies and two bogeys on his card to finish the day in 29th place on seven over par, nine strokes behind leading trio Léonard Bem (68) and Thomas Perrot (70) of France and Finland’s Miki Kuronen (70).

They head the field by one stroke on two under par 140 from France’s Romain Langasque (70) and Dane Sixten Stemann Jensen (71).

The cut for the top 40 and ties fell at eight over 150, which meant good news for Naas’ Conor O’Rourke after a pair of 75s left him on the mark in 36th spot.

But it wasn’t such as good day for Tommy O’Driscoll, (77 75) as he missed out by two, or Alexander Wilson (77 76), who finished three outside the mark.
