Power cut on PGA Tour debut; Carey moves up; Meadow five back

Seamus Power at West Waterford

PGA Tour — Seamus Power missed the cut by a stroke on his PGA Tour debut in the Safeway Open in California.

The West Waterford man had work to do after an opening 73 and while he carded a three under 69, he missed out by the minimum in two under par 142.

It was a frustrating debut for the 29-year old, who picked up two birdies in eight holes before play was suspended on Friday.

He resumed on Saturday and while followed four pars with a bogey at the 13th, he birdied the 14th and 15th only to fail to birdie the par-five 18th.

While he putted better in round two, Power would have liked to hit more shots closer over the two rounds.

He was inside 10 feet just twice in the first 36 holes compared to nine times for halfway leader Piercy.

Carey on the move

Alps Tour — Dubliner David Carey added a four under 67 to rounds of 73 and 66 to move up to tied 14th in the Abruzzo Open at Miglianico Golf & Country Club on the Adriatic coast.
The former Carton House player is on seven under par, six shots behind England's Tom Shadbolt. who won last month's Alps Costa del Sol and lies fifth in the order of merit.
The Top Five at the end of the season win Challenge Tour cards and Carey, having made six of 12 cuts, is 37th thanks mainly to two early season Top 10 finishes.
