Caldwell misses out at Europro Tour Championship; Carey in Alps pack

Europro Tour — Clandeboye's Jonny Caldwell finished tied for seventh in the Matchroom Sport Tour Championship and seventh in the 2016 Race to Desert Springs.

The top five won promotion to the Challenge Tour following the season-ending event at Desert Springs Resort in Spain with Caldwell final round 67 for a share of seventh worth £2,072 and a final position of seventh in the Race to Desert Springs standings, just £1014.29 outside the top five.

Peter Tarver-Jones won the Matchroom Sport Tour Championship after sudden-death play-off to seal an immediate return to the Challenge Tour.

The Worthing Golf Club pro shot a course record 63, nine under par, to join Richard James on 13 under par.

Despite a difficult lie, Tarver-Jones hit his approach on the first extra hole to within four feet and held his nerve to take the title, the £20,000 winner’s cheque and second place on the Race To Desert Springs Order of Merit.

Caldwell tied for seventh on eight under, three shots shy of where he needed to finish while Niall Kearney tied for 19th on five under and finished 39th in the standings. 

A;an Dunbar, who was 60th in the final standings, did not contest the final event.

Carey tied 32nd at Alps Tour Grand Final

Alps Tour — Dubliner David Carey shot a third round 69 to share 32nd place with a round to go in the season-ending Alps  Tour Grand Final by AXA at Miglianico Golf & Country Club in Italy.
The 20-year old had four birdies and one bogey and at three under par, he's 11 strokes adrift of Matt Wallace, who shot 66 to lead by two strokes on 14 under par.
