Alps Tour — Teenager David Carey fired a three under par 69 to trail the leaders by just two shots entering Tuesday's final round of the Dreamland Pyramids Open in Egypt.

The 19-year old Dubliner was level with nine to go in his second round at Dreamland Golf Resort in Cairo but eagled the par-five second, his 11th, and then birdied the ninth to share third place with Antoine Schwartz of France and overnight leader Andrew Jones of England on three under par.

England's Matt Wallace (72) and Richard Jouven of France (69), who has Jude O'Reilly on his bag, lead Carey and the chasing bunch by two strokes on five under par.

Carey started with a birdie three into the wind at the narrow, par-four 10th but holed little to the turn, missing from 12 feet at the 12th, 15 feet at the 13th and eight feet at the 14th.

He then missed another chance at the 15th, failed to get up and down from sand for par at the 16th and two putt for pars at the 17th and 18th to turn in level.

After solid par at the first, he hit a 240-yard five-wood into the breeze to four feet at the second, setting up an eagle three before hitting the pin with a 64-yard pitch at the ninth to set up a closing birdie.

While it was a good day for Carey, rookie professional Tommy O'Driscoll from Killarney added an 84 to his opening 72 to miss the cut by six strokes.

Tommy brother Eamonn, playing as an amateur, finished three shots further back after an 81.
