Defending champion Olivia Mehaffey and Skerries Maria Dunne will be hoping to continue their good form in this week's Welsh Ladies Open Stroke Play Championship.

Second and third behind Olivia Winning at Royal Troon, they head a seven-strong Irish contingent at at Conwy Golf Club, where players will get a chance to see the course before the Girls’ and Ladies Home International Matches later this year.

They are joined in Wales by Chloe Ryan (Castletroy), Jessica Ross (Donaghadee), Sinead Sexton (Lahinch), Shannon Burke (Ballinrobe) and Rachel Thomson (Cork).

Mehaffey captured the title by one shot from Winning last year and with the English star claiming victory in Scotland last week, this promises to be another competitive encounter.

The Curtis Cup side will be named on the eve of the championship with Dunne and Ross potential picks alongside the likes of Wales' Chloe Williams, Castletroy's Chloe Ryan or England's Gemma Clews, to name but a few.

The Irish Nations Cup Team is Mehaffey, Ryan and Ross for a 54-hole Championship which begins on Friday with the top 50 and ties qualifying for Sunday's final round.
