Carey fades after fast start in Tunisia

David Carey

Alps Tour — David Carey failed to take advantage of a hot start in the third round of the €70,000 Tunisia Golf Open.

The 19-year old, third in the money list, was three under after five holes but carded a level par 72 to lie 11 strokes behind leader Matt Wallace of England entering the final round at the port venue, 90 minutes south of Tunis.

Wallace shot a 71 to lead by five strokes on 10 under from Enrico Di Nitto of Italy (67), Austria's Robin Goger (69) and Spain's David Borda (71).

Scores

Carey birdied the first, second and fifth to get to two under for the tournament. But he bogeyed the sixth, eighth, 14th and 15th and a solitary back nine birdie at the 12th was not enough to make a significant move up the leaderboard ahead of Sunday's final round.
