World No 10 Jack Hume made a major move in the third round of the Lytham Trophy with a two under 68 leaving him solo third and just four strokes off the lead.

The Walker Cup player from Naas bogeyed the third and sixth but birdies at the fourth, 10th, 11th and 13th gave him the best round of the morning by three strokes.

At six over par, he went into the final round four shots behind Kedleston Park's Bradley Moore, who followed a double bogey at the 15th with birdies at the 16th and 18th for a 72 and a two stroke lead over Alfie Plant (74). 

Hume is tied for third with former Irish Amateur Open with Jamie Savage (73) of Scotland.

As for the rest of the Irish, Warrenpoint's Colm Campbell (76) and Dundalk's Caolan Rafferty (74) were nine off the lead on 221 with Naas' Jonathan Yates (75) a shot further back.

Tramore's Robin Dawson (74) 223, Portmarnock's Geoff Lenehan (75) and Tullamore's Stuart Grehan (76) 224, Whitehead's John Ross Galbraith (77) 226 and Ardee's Eugene Smith (81) 229 completed the Irish scoring.
