Seamus Power chasing victory; only two behind in Indiana

Seamus Power in action in Indiana

The final round promises to be a cavalry charge but Seamus Power is in with a chance of a maiden win in the United Leasing & Finance Championship on the Web.com Tour.

The pride of West Waterford goes into the final round just two strokes behind hometown boy Adam Schenk at Victoria National Golf Club in Newburgh, Indiana.

Schenk came home in 32 for a 68 and a one stroke lead over Cody Gribble (68), halfway leader Bhavik Patel (74) and Mexico's Sebastian Vazquez (70).

But Power is just a further stroke behind in a five-man log-jam for fifth place on seven under after a second successive 70.

While he bogeyed the eighth and 16th, the 29-year old East Tennessee University accountancy graduate also made four birdies and has an excellent chance of his best ever finish on the second tier circuit.

He had two Top-10 finishes in his rookie season last year, when he ended up 67th in the standings with $81,979 from 24 starts.

His best finish to date is a share of ninth in the Digital Ally Open last August, when he shot four rounds in the 60s to earn what was his biggest cheque of the season — $16,800.

The objective is to finish inside "The 25" leading money winners and gain automatic promotion to the PGA Tour.

And today's final round is a good opportunity for the three-time former Irish Youths champion, who has made five of six cuts this year.
