Rosslare’s John Brady fired seven birdies in a four under 68 to take a five shot lead into Thursday’s final two rounds of the Leinster Boys Amateur Open Championship at Mullingar.

The Co Wexford player birdied the second and third, then bogeyed the sixth but birdied the seventh and eighth to turn in 32 before coming home in 36 with bogeys at the 12th and 13th cancelled out by birdies at the 15th, 15th and 18th.

Brady leads on four under par 140 with Athenry’s David Kitt his nearest challenge on one over 145 after a 73.

Mullingar’s Gareth Carr (72) and overnight leader Patrick Brennan  from Belvoir Park (76) are six behind while 57 players made the cut for the top 45 and ties at 13 over 157
