Round-up: Bronze for Olivia, gold for Sinead, Stephanie 12th

Amateur golf—Olivia Mehaffey made six birdies in a closing four under par 68 to finish third in the European Ladies´Amateur Championship at Hooks Golf Club in Sweden.

The Royal County Down Ladies' star finished on nine under par, two strokes behind gold medal winner Bronte Law of England, who closed with a 66 to win by one from Belgium's Leslie Cloots.

Seven behind Cloots starting the day, Law was delighted with her win, explaining: "It’s been quite an intense summer. Two weeks ago we won the European Ladies’ Amateur Team Championship and now I’ve won the Individual Championship. I am also very happy about the victory in the Curtis Cup”, said the 21-year-old player from Stockport, south of Manchester.

Mehaffey took to Twitter to remind us she will be joining Leona Maguire in this week's Ricoh Women's British Open:

Sinead Sexton

European gold for Sexton in Zagreb

Amateur golf—Lahinch's Sinead Sexton took gold at the weekend when the University of Stirling won the European University Games at Golf Ladanjski Klub in Zagreb, Croatia.

With Jennifer Saxton and Gemma Batty, Stirling finished with a three round total of 437, five strokes ahead of the University of St Andrews with the University of Exeter a distant third.

Stephanie 12th at Battle Creek

Symmetry Tour—Things are looking up for Stephanie Meadow.

The Royal Portrush talent has had a tough year but there appears to be light at the end of the tunnel after she followed her late qualification for Olympic Games duty in Rio with a share of 12th place in the Firekeepers Casino Hotel Championship on the LPGA's second tier Symetra Tour.

Meadow carded rounds of 70 and 69 to finish on five under par at Battle Creek Country Club in Michigan and pick up $1,644.

It was her first start on the second tier circuit since May. She's had seven starts on the main LPGA Tour and made three cuts to lie 152nd in the money list with $13,226.
