The Golfing Union of Ireland has nominated Jack Hume, Stuart Grehan  and Colm Campbell to take part in the Volopa Irish Challenge at Mount Wolseley from 8-11 September

Entering its second year, the European Challenge Tour event is supported by Sport Ireland through the Confederation of Golf in Ireland (CGI).

Naas' Hume (22), who is currently ranked fifth in the world, is no stranger to the international stage having played in the DDF Irish Open for the past two years.

A year on from winning the Walker Cup with Great Britain & Ireland at Royal Lytham & St Anne’s, Hume has already captured the South African Stroke Play title and the European Nations Trophy individual title this season.

Tullamore's Grehan (23) is a member of the Paddy Harrington Golf Scholarship programme at Maynooth University and was a member of the victorious European team at this year’s Palmer Cup in Formby.

He sits inside the world’s top 60 and is a two-time domestic champion having won the South and East of Ireland titles last year.

Warrenpoint player Campbell (29) captured his first national title in May this year when he won the Flogas Irish Amateur Open at Royal Dublin, finishing on 16 under par to beat Jack Hume by one stroke. He also won the East of Ireland in 2014.

The Island's Paul McBride, who has been selected with Hume and Grehan for next month's Eisenhower Trophy in Mexico, was unavailable due to college commitments.

Speaking about the selections, CGI Chairman Redmond O’Donoghue said: “We are very grateful to Sport Ireland for their continued support of the Volopa Irish Challenge at Mount Wolseley. Playing in these events is of huge benefit for our elite amateur golfers."
