Webb wins British Senior Ladies

Irish Senior international Laura Webb (nee Bolton) captured the British Senior Ladies title by three strokes at Caldy Golf Club in Liverpool to add to her amazing record.

A successful junior at Cairndhu near Larne before moving to England, she became the first players to claim the triple crown of the Irish girls, women’s and seniors’ Close titles before carding rounds of 71 72 and 76 to win last Friday.

Two weeks ago she was a member of the Irish side that won the European Senior Women’s title for the second time.

Now 53, she is the first Irish player to win the over-50s British title since Mary McKenna at Aberdovey in in 2001 with her winning total of 219 was the lowest this century.

The Island’s Gertie McMullen, runner-up 12 months ago, had rounds of 79, 77 and 76 to finish tied ninth.
