Rusty Turner cut in Singapore

A rusty Niall Turner will miss the cut by six shots in the weather-delayed SMB Singapore Open.

After five months out with a hip injury, the Muskerry golfer followed an opening 73 with a 76 to finish on seven over par at Sentosa Golf Club.

While he had just one three putt, Turner made little on the greens over the two days and nine missed fairways in round two meant he could make just one birdie as he battled in vain to get close to the cut line.

Unheralded American Seungsu Han upstaged the tournament marquee names by carding a second round four-under par 67 to grab the second round clubhouse lead.

Han, who is chasing his first professional win at the US$1 million Singapore showpiece, leads by two shots on nine-under par from Australia’s Adam Scott and Malaysia’s Gavin Green, who was at seven-under through 15 holes before play was suspended due to fading light at 7.21pm.

Scott, who is seeking a record fourth Singapore Open title, returned early to complete the remaining three holes of a first round 68 before heading back out for round two, carding a 67.
