Condren adds to Greystones delight with Irish Mid-Amateur win
It was a day of double delight for Greystones golf as Alan Condren claimed a seven-stroke win in the Irish Mid-Amateur Championship at Clandeboye.
Just a few hours before Paul Dunne chipped in on the 72nd for a 61 to hold off Rory McIlroy and claim the British Masters and his maiden European Tour win, Condren could afford a final round of 74 and still win in a canter from Naas' Mark Duffy on five-under-par 208.
Leading by six strokes heading into Sunday’s final round following opening rounds of 66 and 68, the 2015 Leinster Mid-Am champion overcame cold, wet and windy conditions at the Dufferin course to stroll to victory.
Former Irish internationals Robbie Cannon and Eddie McCormack shared third place on four-over-par, nine strokes behind the champion.
