Power just two off the lead in weather-delayed Sanderson Farms

Seamus Power

West Waterford's Seamus Power closed to within two shots of leader Ryan Armour before play was suspended in the Sanderson Farms Championship at the Country Club of Jackson in Mississippi.

The 30-year-old missed just two of 16 greens in regulation as he made five birdies and a bogey to move up to tied third with former Ryder Cup player Vaughn Taylor on eight-under-par with two holes of his second round to complete when play resumes on Saturday at 7.50am local time.

Armour add a 68 to his opening 66 to lead by one stroke in the clubhouse on 10-under par from South African Tyrone Van Aswegen.

Power parred his first six holes before making back-to-back birdies, hitting his tee shot to five feet at the 191-yard seventh before knocking in a 30 footer for another at the eighth.

He then two-putted for his birdie four from long range at the 11th, brushing in a five footer. And while he failed to get up and down from the rough right of the 12th, he hit a 171-yard tee shot to 15 inches at the 13th and then got up and down from greenside sand at the driveable, 298-yard 15th for his fifth birdie of the day before play was called off due to a "dangerous situation".
