Power seeking more gold in Vegas

Seamus Power is just three strokes off the lead with three holes of his opening round to complete in the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas.

As Graeme McDowell fought back from two-over after five holes to post a one-under 70 at TPC Summerlin, Power was tied for 16th on three-under-par when play was suspended due to darkness.

Having started on the back nine, the West Waterford man almost aced the 14th, the birdied the 15th, 16th and 18th to turn in 32.

A double-bogey six at the third, where he twice found bunkers en route to the green, undid some of his good work. But he made a 33 footer for birdie at the next hole to get back to three-under.

With McDowell tied for 43rd, Power ended the day just three shots behind Korea's Whee Kim, who shot a six-under 65 to lead by one shot in the clubhouse from J.J. Spaun, Ryan Blaum, John Huh and Alex Cejka.
