Irish trio misses Dimension Data cut
Gareth Maybin made a quintuple bogey eight on the 17th at The Links at Fancourt to join Gavin Moynihan and Jeff Hopkins in missing the 54-hole cut in the Dimension Data Pro-Am in South Africa.
Back on tour after 20 months out with a wrist injury, the Ballyclare man was two under for the tournament with two holes of his third round to play after an up and down third day
Moments later he was three over and signing for a six over 79 on the par 73 Links layout.
The cut fell at one-under par which also meant there would be no payday for The Island's Moynihan or Royal Dublin's Hopkins.
Moynihan missed out by two strokes, finishing on one-over par despite making an eagle three at the last on Montagu for a two-over-par 74.
Hopkins finished on four-over par, carding a 77 on Montagu.
As for the tournament, England's Chris Lloyd and South Africans Chris Swanepoel, George Coetzee and Jean Hugo lead by one stroke on 12 under par from compatriots Wallie Coetsee, Jared Harvey and Dylan Frittelli; Zimbabwe's Mark Williams, England's Laurie Canter and Dane Jeff Winther.
