Duke University's Leona Maguire had to settle for second place as Florida's Maria Torres closed with a four-under-par 66 to win the SunTrust Gator Women's Invite in Florida.
World amateur No. 1 Maguire went into the final round at the Mark Bostick Golf Course in Gainesville with a one-shot lead over the Puerto Rican talent on two-under par.
Seeking her sixth collegiate win, the Slieve Russell star opened her day with three straight pars, before suffering her only bogey of the afternoon on the 400-yard, par-four fourth.
She birdied the sixth and 12th, playing her final 14 holes in two-under-par to finish with a 69.
But she had to play second fiddle to world No. 41 Torres, who had a superb day, making five birdies in a four-under 66 for a two-stroke win on five-under 205.
Leona's twin sister, Lisa, shot 82 on the final day to finish tied 69th as Florida won the team title by eight strokes from Duke on seven-over par.
