O'Keeffe denies McCormack in Titleist MidWest Alliance Shootout

Peter O'Keeffe (Douglas) with the 2017 Titleist MidWest Alliance Shootout Trophy at Dromoland Golf Club

Big-hitting Douglas man Peter O'Keeffe birdied the 18th to hold off defending champion Andrew McCormack and win the MidWest Alliance's Titleist Shootout at Dromoland.

Former Challenge Tour professional O'Keeffe and Castletroy's McCormack were tied on 36 points playing the par-five finishing hole knowing that Castletroy's Jack Ryan Castletroy and Woodstock's Tony Cleary were leading in the clubhouse with 37 points.

McCormack opened the door by pulling his drive into the trees and O'Keeffe seized his opportunity, two putting for a winning birdie after a perfect tee shot.

Galway Bay's Eddie McCormack had 35 gross stableford points and may well be a factor in this week's West of Ireland Championship having recently won the Rosapenna Senior Scratch Cup.

Runner-up Andrew McCormack should also be fit for Rosses Point after easing a recent back injury by using a prize presented by MidWest Alliance sponsor Backballer.ie
